The Portland That Was

Description

The Portland That Was is a time-based art project for PICA's Time-based Art festival featuring Portland-centric films from Dennis Nyback's film archive. I was approached to create the online interactive component for the project and tie each film to a specific location in Portland, Oregon.

My Solution

Using a combination of YouTube and the Google Maps API, I was able to create an interactive experience that effectively ties each film to its Portland location. The combination of these two technologies was ahead of its time. YouTube provided effective content delivery, while Google Maps allowed for a familiar spatial interface that allowed the viewer to browse the city.
